Kumbikumbi
At the first big rain of the season, we get swarmed with these huge flying termites. Swarmed! They hatch, live for a day, and die. So, the last few nights, our house was full of these mad zombie termites lurching about in the throes of death.
Lovely.
What better to do than to eat them?
No joke. Before I knew it, Sylvia had gathered them all up, cooked them in a pot in the garage, and brought me a plate, saying, “Here, try these, they’re delicious!”
I did.
They weren’t.

Hahahaha. I remember the flying termites at the beginning of rainy season in Liberia. They were a lot smaller than that. BTW, I am a probably for August, I don’t think I emailed back.
i like mine shelled. it’s more like peanut butter that way.
Here’s the whole plate:
My guess is that your calendar for ‘08 must be filling up quickly, and you’re trying to discourage potential company from visiting you. If you showed pictures of a TYPICAL Sylvia meal and could somehow use an aroma-blog to convey its seductive allure, friends would be racing to buy their tickets and reserve a spot at Nyumba Todd.
@Kathyjj29: I’m trying to decide how long to wait until linking to the big bug picture again. These things need to be timed just right, you know…
oh dear Lord… you know, the Lord gives us all special gifts… i am so glad he gave you the gift of bug eating… :) cause he DID NOT give it to me!
